EAIS Guide to Online Learning

EAIS STUDENT GUIDE for ONLINE LEARNING:

In the event of a school closing, students will follow the following rules for learning online: 
ÿ     
      Students should daily (from Sunday to Thursday) check their email accounts, GDS blog, and individual blogs.    Students must follow their online class schedule for classes and quizzes.  THEY WILL BE GIVEN CLASS PARTICIPATION GRADES AND BEHAVIOR GRADES!
    
       Online protocol for live chat sessions with teachers 
o    Student must be in designated chat room on time. 
o    Students are not allowed to write or call teacher until teacher calls on them.
o    If a student has a question they may simply type a “?” and wait for the teacher to call on them to speak. 
ÿ     Students will have at least a 2 day period for any due date of any assignment.  The day ends at 3:00 p.m.- so if a student had something due on a Tuesday they must hand it in before 3:00- otherwise it is counted late
ÿ     
      Late assignments can be accepted (ONLINE ONLY!!!)
o   24 hours- 25% deduction from total grade
o   48 hours- 50% deduction from total grade
o   More than 48 hours- a zero will be given! 
ÿ      
      The quiz schedule will be at the designated time on these days:
o   Sunday:  English Language and Literature
o   Monday:  French/ German/ Arabic
o   Tuesday:  Math
o   Wednesday:  Science
o   Thursday:  Social Studies
ÿ     
       All sent assignments and assessments for students will be:
o   Posted on Teacher BLOG/ site
o   Sent to students via email attachments
ÿ     
      Students owe the school and their teachers their class time and the homework time designated in the student handbook. 
ÿ     
      With students who are suspected of online cheating; they will be allowed a redo of the assignment with an automatic 20% dock.  If they do not submit their own work it will be a ZERO!
ÿ     
      Students will be given links by teachers to various websites to assist in their online work and they are responsible for that material.
ÿ      
      Teachers will not have any due dates or office hours on Friday or Saturday.
